Why O--R having more --I Effect than O--H ?

Questions-
Why O--R having more --I Effect than
O--H ?

Actually The main cause of more --I effect of OR than OH is electronegativity difference.

I will give you right and exact reason of this.

Electronegativity of some element---
 H-2
 C-2.5
 N-3.0
 O-3.5
 F- 4.0

Actually electronegativity difference of
O--C is 1.0

while

electronegativity difference of O--H is 1.5 .

EXPLANATION---

FOR [ O--H  ]---

oxygen attracts shared pair of electron of O-H bond more strongly .Now electron density around oxygen increases. So due to excess of electron the electron attracting tendency od O decreses .due to which --I Effect of O--H bond is is less.

FOR [ O--R  ]---  oxygen attracts shared pair electron of O-H bond relatively less strongly .bcz carbon and oxygen having less difference in electronegativity .Now electron density around oxygen relatively decreases. Hence due to deficiency of electron in O , the electron attracting tendency od O increses .due to which --I Effect of O--R bond is is less.
